Instructional
media encompasses all the materials and physical mean an instructor might use
implement instruction and facilitate student’s achievements of instructional
objective like chalk board, overhead projector, charts etc.
Instructional
media include, print media, text books, visual media, audio media, tape disc,
flash, memory card.
CRITERIA USED TO SELECT INSTRUCTIONAL MEDIA
Behavioral
objectives and structure of subject matter, the intended behavioral change with respect to the subject
matter must correspond with the instructional media.
Availability of instructional media,
the teacher should consider the type of media available in a given environment,
in respect to the level of learners and their characteristics such as faster
learners, moderate and slow learner.
Teachers’ capability, the teacher
should select the appropriate instructional media in which she or he is
familiar with for easy delivery of intended materials
Selection of learning experience,
the teacher has to select a variety of learning experiences and activities,
appropriate teaching strategies or method.
Evaluation of instructional
media the teacher should evaluate the quality of
type of instructional media if it is appropriate for student.
Learning style, students differ in
learning due to their individual differences; hence the teacher must combine
different instructional media.
Practicability; the teacher has to
decide on how practical instructional media is, in an application to learning.
Feedback; the result of the
post – test could serve as a feedback to the learners.
Regardless
of various instructional media and criteria for their selection, there is no
suitable media as they are incorporated on use.
