Microsoft Excel referred to as Excel involves a very popular
and powerful spread sheet application program.
The spread sheet is an application program commonly used for
working with numbers which includes calculations of things like grades,
budgets, business profit and other finance related tasks or it is a table of
values arranged in rows and columns. It also facilitates the production
of lists, tables and charts or to process examination results and to tabulate
anything from various data records

Spread sheet can manage to analyze and present data and
words in neet columns and rows. Each sheet has 256 columns and 65,536
rows. Each workbook can have 256 sheets.
The following are the roles of Excel
- It makes easy to enter, organize and find data that are needed. For example by sorting lists alphabetically or numerically.
- Performs calculations and display the results.
- If you change data the results of calculations changes automatically.
- Allows the creation of wide range of graphs display data in pictures.
- Makes data attractive and easy to read and print
- It is used for record keeping like students records etc.
Cell
is the box where the numbers the labels, or the formulas are entered or single
value in the spread sheet at the intersection or a row and column
Active
cell is the space where a specified row and column intersect where data are
entered. Each cell is assigned a name according to its column letter and
row number of the cell
Row, is the collection of cells in a line from side to side or a horizontal sequence of cells. Rows are numbered starting with 1 through 65536
Column is the collection of cells in a line from top to bottom or vertical sequence of cells. Columns are lettered starting with A1 through IU.
Workbook is the collection of pages (worksheets) that makes up one file or a set of work sheets that are saved together as a single file in Excel.
