Guidelines refers to the directions or criteria that a teacher should follow during teaching

The following are the guidelines that a teacher should follow during teaching

A trainee teacher should consider the entire school environment as laboratory for students learning and practical application of his or her knowledge.forexample sitting arrangement of the classroom, availability of electrical power and the availability of equipment used in media and technology.

A trainee teacher should consider availability of resources .for example in the areas where there is no power supply a teacher may find other alternative like solar power in order to support the equipment when integrating with technology in the process of teaching .

 Media should be designed, produced, selected, used as resources to attain specific instructional. Example when a teacher wants to teach Microsoft word, he/she is supposed to design media which will be relevant to the programme selected.

Media to be used by trainee teacher should be considered in terms of concreteness or abstractness of experience which the media would produce. For example a teacher wants to show the structure of computer, he/she may bring a television which looks like a computer to show how computer looks like. Also a teacher may show the tangible materials, example bringing printer in the classroom.

Media should be selected for instructional purpose based on specific criteria which are directly related to instructional planning. These include the nature of the audience in terms of chronological, age, sex, social, cultural, environmental and economic background of the learners.

Instructional media should be utilized in the content of a variety of teaching strategies. Use of resources should be observed and guided. The possibility of using multi-media should be considered, this is because a single media may not be adequate to achieve all the objectives outlined for a lesson, a teacher should use all equipment to ensure successful integration of technology.

Media utilization should require learners` response. Thus, when designing any media, the trainee teacher should build into the programme things that will ensure learners` participation through discussion, project, and dramatization and so on example when learners are interested in audiovisual, a teacher must use it to capture the learners’ interest.

Evaluating the use of media can be done through observation, individual project and use of questionnaire. The information from the evaluation can be used to improve on media usage in subsequent lesson.

Therefore through the process of using media and technology, the students can engage themselves in interpreting the objects through observing and can use knowledge, skills and experience in their life time.
