Do you know some key people who have influenced or presently influencing educational technology?

THE CONCEPT OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY

Educational technology is the study and ethical practice of facilitating e-learning which is the learning and improving performance by creating, using and managing appropriate technological processes and resources.

The following are the key people who have influenced or presently educational technology.

BILL GATES

Focused on getting more students degrees faster through technology and what is called “competency-based learning,” which in part rewards students for what they know rather than for how many credits they take in college.

SEBASTIAN THRUN

He co-founded Udacity organization, a for-profit education company offering massive open online courses, or MOOCs.

DAPHNE KOLLER

She developed the idea of Sebastian Thrun on studying free online courses where a students can learn free online through computer technology.

ANN THOMPSON

Her contribution in the area of education technology is that preparing teachers to be able to use technology in ways that expand their classrooms. Thompson not only inspires practicing teachers through forums for sharing research and development, but also promotes a new generation of educators who are comfortable with tech and confident in its role in the classroom.

SALMAN KHAN

He is the founder of the Khan Academy, a free online education platform. The Khan Academy developed a method of learning by offering free at-home access to academic videos. The Khan Academy's function ability to freely distribute lessons has demonstrated technology's ability to eliminate economic barriers that prevent effective education, as long as an individual has regular access to an internet. Khan Academy also provides a web-based exercise system that generates problems for students based on skill level and performance.

SUGATAMITRA

His interest in computer networking. This in turn led to the invention of LAN based database publishing and he created the “Yellow Pages” industry in India and Bangladesh.

JOHN DOERR

John’s passion is helping entrepreneurs create the “Next Big Thing” in mobile and social networks, green technology innovation, education and economic development. He also holds several patents for computer memory devices

PUNYA MISHRA

He is nationally and internationally recognized for his work on the theoretical, cognitive and social aspects related to the design and use of computer-based learning environments. He has worked extensively in the area of technology integration in teacher education which led to the development of the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK).

CONCLUSION

The discovery of technology in a global situation paved the way to easy access of different issues in educational technology was teachers and students can learn and access different materials online. Also helps to increase the knowledge and skills of an individual.
