Microsoft Excel referred to as Excel involves a very popular and powerful spread sheet application program.

 

The spread sheet is an application program commonly used for working with numbers which includes calculations of things like grades, budgets, business profit and other finance related tasks or it is a table of values arranged in rows and columns.  It also facilitates the production of lists, tables and charts or to process examination results and to tabulate anything from various data records
.

Spread sheet can manage to analyze and present data and words in neet columns and rows.  Each sheet has 256 columns and 65,536 rows.  Each workbook can have 256 sheets.

The following are the roles of Excel  

• It makes easy to enter, organize and find data that are needed.  For example by sorting lists alphabetically or numerically.  
• Performs calculations and display the results.
• If you change data the results of calculations changes automatically.
• Allows the creation of wide range of graphs display data in pictures.
• Makes data attractive and easy to read and print 
• It is used for record keeping like students records etc.  

Excel formula mathematical expression that gives instructions to the computer about what to do with the content of specified cells. 

Cell is the box where the numbers the labels, or the formulas are entered or single value in the spread sheet at the intersection or a row and column

Active cell is the space where a specified row and column intersect where data are entered.  Each cell is assigned a name according to its column letter and row number of the cell
Row, is the collection of cells in a line from side to side or a horizontal sequence of cells.  Rows are numbered starting with 1 through 65536
Column is the collection of cells in a line from top to bottom or vertical sequence of cells.  Columns are lettered starting with A1 through IU.
Workbook is the collection of pages (worksheets) that makes up one file or a set of work sheets that are saved together as a single file in Excel.

Educational media is the process through which individual to became media literate able to critically understand the nature, techniques and impact of media message and production.

Educational media is a type of media that is used to educate people. Educational media can include computer programs, television shows and radio broadcast

Technology is the use of scientific for knowledge improving the way of to do things. One would use scientific knowledge to invest machines or device to make things easier to do.

    Advantages of education media and technology.

It gives the knowledge and skills about the channels to be used in teaching and learning process.

 

 

Education media and technology helps the teacher to select the appropriate media of delivering knowledge to the learners. 

It reduces the cost of learning by shrinking the distance. For example the teacher  could teach while he/she is distant from the class . 

It reduces more explanations from the facilitator or teacher. 

The teacher can teach the overcrowded class by using microphone, speakers and projector.

It helps the students with disabilities to learn. Example dump and deaf.

It draws interest to the learners during the period when the teacher is teaching. Example if the teacher is teaching about the benefit of wild animals.

Disadvantages

Time consuming in preparation. The teacher takes long time when preparing the lesson.

Game mentality is a problem that can face a teacher because the students often use computers primarily for games.

It is expensive to some teachers and schools to buy the devices like computers, projectors and screen. 

 

It needs power to operate. If the school has no electric power, could not assist teaching and learning process.

Power interruption lead to teaching and learning process to fail or stop totally.

It leads to less concentration to the explanation from the teacher as students base on what is displayed.

Education media and technology has brought more effect in performing education. Technology is making learning to be interested and simplified in all aspects.

Therefore, every stakeholder must have knowledge about it so as to match with current world.
